Steward Board

 

Stewards are persons of solid piety, who know and love the Doctrine and Discipline of the AME Church.  They must be fruitful and of good natural or acquired ability to transact the spiritual and temporal business of the Church.

 

The Stewards, who shall number no less than three (3) or no more than nineteen (19), are nominated by the Pastor and submitted to the Quarterly Conference for confirmation.  They shall serve for a term of one (1) year and may be nominated annually.

 

Duties of the Steward

¨      They shall make an exact account of all money or other provisions collected for the support of the Pastor of the mission, circuit or station.

¨      They shall seek out the needy and distressed in order to relieve and comfort them.

¨      They shall make accurate reports of expenditures.

¨      They shall attend Quarterly Conference.

¨      They shall write letters to societies of the church, letting them know the state of temporal concerns and urging more liberal contributions.

¨      They shall register all baptisms, marriages and deaths within the congregation.
