Women's Ministry Back-to-School Backpack Project

In August 2009, the Women's Ministry of FAME South kicked off their Back-to-School Backpack Project for the Kent Multi-Service Center, which provides temporary emergency housing and other services to those in need. Using proceeds from a Sunday bake sale and Women's Ministry donations, the sisters purchased 15 Backpacks for the project. Throughout the month, FAME members and brothers from the Men's Ministry donated pens, notebook paper, pocket folders, 3-ring binders and other supplies. At the conclusion of the Sunday, Sept. 6th Worship service, members from the Women's Ministry, our youth and brothers from the Men's Ministry gathered to organize the supplies and assemble the backpacks.

On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the Women's Ministry delivered the backpacks to the Multi-Service Center's Emergency Housing office in Kent, Washington. The backpacks were distributed to high school, middle and elementary schoolchildren in the Kent School District. Rev. George (unfortunately not pictured), arrived as always to lend a helping hand.

The Women's Ministry of FAME South continues to lead the way in reaching out to the community to serve those in need. We applaud their efforts and thank God for their service.
